Gender Pay Gap Employer Statement

February 2024

Anglicare Tasmania is committed to working to close the gender pay gap.  The organisation has in place a range of strategies and policies that help to promote gender equality in the workplace, but acknowledges further work is needed.

Anglicare Tasmania is a multi-services agency providing support to clients in the following areas:

  • Community Aged Care
  • Acquired Injury Support Services
  • Community Services (includes financial counselling, mental health programs, alcohol and other drug services, Gamblers Help, and children, youth and families services)
  • Housing support services and residential facilities

These areas are supported by a Corporate Services team.

73% of Anglicare Tasmania’s total workforce is female and the organisation’s management team contains far more women than men.

Anglicare’s governing body has a balanced gender composition with a close to 50:50 gender split of male and female Board members.

As a multi-services agency, Anglicare Tasmania currently faces some funding barriers to closing the gender pay gap.  For example, we recognise that direct client support roles in Community Aged Care and in Acquired Injury Support Services are currently remunerated at a lower level than the equivalent direct client support roles in Community Services and Housing Support Services. However, the remuneration of these roles is directly linked to the associated government funding.  The structural arrangements of these programs currently limits Anglicare’s ability to fully close the gender pay gap. Our organisation participates in advocacy to support the fair funding of social services.

Anglicare Tasmania’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement currently includes provision for an above sector level of 12 weeks paid parental leave. It also contains provisions regarding flexible working arrangements to support caring responsibilities.  Anglicare has policies in place to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and discrimination. Further work will be undertaken to add to our existing level of policy and strategy, in order to align with each of the six Gender Equality Indicators.
