The Tasmanian Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) is a public health initiative that aims to prevent and reduce the transmission of blood-borne viruses and the occurrence of other injecting related harms, through the provision of free and accessible sterile injecting equipment across the state.
This is achieved through a network of NSP outlets broken into Primary, Secondary, Community Pharmacy and vending machines.
The program is supported by the Crown through the Department of Health (Tasmania).
For more information on the types of NSP outlets, their locations around Tasmania and the services they provide follow the link to our Needle and Syringe Program website page.
Anglicare Tasmania runs the free Blood Borne Virus aware program, with support of the Department of Health Tasmania.
The aim of the BBV Aware program is to reduce stigma in the community associated with blood-borne viruses (BBVs) by providing information, front-line staff training and Needle and Syringe Programs.
