Financial Counselling Service

Anglicare Tasmania provides a free financial counselling service throughout Tasmania which is independent, non-judgemental and confidential.

Our counsellors are qualified and professional.  They can help you organise your budget, suggest ways to manage any debt you have and refer you to other useful services. They can also advise on consumer credit law, debt enforcement practices, bankruptcy, industry hardship policies and government concessions.

Call the national helpline on 1800 007 007 and you will be transferred to a Financial Counsellor in Tasmania.

How can our Financial Counsellors help you?

Help you create a personal budget

Are you worried about how you will cover the cost of living now or in the future? Our counsellors can assist you with one-to-one budget coaching.   This includes updating your current budget or helping you create a brand new one.

Help you with debt management and planning

If you have issues with paying your bills our counsellors can help you by:

  • explaining your options for dealing with your outstanding bills
  • negotiating with people you owe money to
  • explaining your rights and responsibilities as a consumer
  • helping you access your superannuation
  • giving you information about bankruptcy and its alternatives
  • refer you to legal services if needed.

Call the National Helpline

To speak to one of our financial counsellors just ring the National Helpline on 1800 007 007.

If you would prefer to chat to a counsellor online there is a live chat service on the national debt website www.ndh.org.au

You can speak to someone on the phone number or chat Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 4.30pm

Referral to Anglicare Tasmania

The National Helpline will pass on your details to one of our financial counsellors.

Our counsellor will then contact you to arrange your first meeting either in person or over the phone.

Meet with one of our Financial Counsellors

You can talk to one of our financial counsellors over the telephone weekdays between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm or meet with them at one of our state-wide offices.
