Housing Connect Front Door Snapshot

The Housing Connect Front Door is the entry point for people to access housing support, from emergency accommodation to a long-term home. Although the Front Door service does not provide housing, it can assist clients to apply for social housing or maintain a private rental tenancy.

Anglicare Tasmania is funded by government to deliver the Housing Connect Front Door service statewide from July 2024.

Quarterly Report

Every quarter, Anglicare Tasmania publishes a snapshot of data from the last three months of operation, with the aim of:

  • examining the needs of clients who engaged with the Front Door
  • describing the outcomes achieved
  • investigating the reasons for any gaps between identified needs and outcomes achieved.

Based on this information, the Snapshot report makes policy recommendations to improve the response to Tasmanians seeking housing support.

The first report published in October 2024, was titled ‘More Houses Needed’ and included some valuable information about the Housing Connect Front Door Service and Housing Connect 2.0.

Most recent Housing Connect Front Door Snapshot

March 2026

Anglicare’s latest Housing Connect Front Door Snapshot highlights the urgent need for more pathways to secure and affordable housing for young Tasmanians.

90 individual young people aged 16-17 years were supported by the Front Door during the March quarter. 62% had been homeless in the last 12 months.

Most young people listed housing crisis, such as eviction, as the main reason they were seeking support.

Anglicare calls on the Tasmanian Government to use revenue from the short-stay levy to support Tasmanians least able to afford housing, including young people and to fund the delivery of more accommodation and homes that meet the needs of young people.
