One voice on aged care

A coalition of aged care service providers is calling for a comprehensive overhaul of the current aged care system.

The campaign was launched recently by the new Australian Aged Care Collaboration, a group of six aged care peak bodies (including Anglicare Australia) that together represent more than 1000 organisations delivering aged care services to 1.3 million people either at home or in communal residential settings.

Australia is at a pivotal decision point, with the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety submitting its historic recommendations.

The It’s Time to Care About Aged Care campaign urges decision-makers to respond with big-picture reforms that address the design, objectives, regulation and resourcing of aged care. It includes a background report that describes Australia as having “the greatest opportunity in a generation” to provide a system where services are not rationed. There are also opportunities to sign a petition and share resources.
