In Limbo: Exploring income and housing barriers for reunifying Tasmanian families

Anglicare Tasmania's Social Action and Research Centre, SARC

In the course of SARC’s consultations on housing issues for vulnerable Tasmanians, Anglicare Tasmania community support workers highlighted regularly seeing parents who have had their children removed by Child Safety Services and are working towards family reunification. With their limited income and in a competitive Tasmanian housing market, parents were unable to provide the material basics required to reunify with their children: stable housing that could accommodate their children and adequate food, clothing, furniture, toys and learning materials. For many, this meant that family reunification was held in limbo.
