This joint submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health – Inquiry into Hepatitis C in Australia recommends proven evidence-based strategies to reduce the burden of hepatitis C. The agencies (Anglicare Tasmania, TasCAHRD and Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre) note that in Tasmania demand for treatment outstrips supply even with severe triage practices in place. There has been minimal progress against the objectives of the national hepatitis C strategy despite the best efforts of those working and volunteering in the sector. It recommends increased resourcing and greater access to education, prevention, treatment, management and care.
