This is the first report from the Treasured Lives project, which explores the often hidden or overlooked experiences of families and informal carers who support older people living with hoarding and challenges maintaining a healthy home. It describes their emotional and practical experiences, their relationships with those they care for, their challenges and their perspectives on what they need to support those they care for to age well at home. And the supports they need themselves. It also explores their perceptions of their care recipients’ histories, the impacts of their challenges and reflections on how to support them as they age. Through exploring support for families and carers elsewhere, the report offers recommendations on how Tasmania could effectively support families and carers to care for their loved ones as they age.
