Let’s extend rental protections

The rental protections put in place by the State Government at the beginning of the pandemic have played a vital role in keeping a roof over many Tasmanians’ heads.

Anglicare is concerned that when they finish at end of this month, housing hardship will increase dramatically.

We’ve joined a coalition of community groups calling on the Government to extend the moratorium on rental evictions and rent increases until the end of March. This would bring Tasmania into line with most other jurisdictions around the country.

We’ve also called on the Government to extend the Residential Rent Relief Scheme for those tenants who can demonstrate ongoing financial hardship.
