Submission in response to the Review of Australia’s Consumer Policy Framework Draft Report

In general, Anglicare supports the Commission’s proposals to improve the consistency and coverage of Australia’s consumer policy framework by moving towards a national, generic consumer law with a single, national regulator, the ACCC. This will assist in overcoming many of the problems caused by inconsistency between jurisdictions and the slow pace of change and reform, and the need for national regulation is particularly marked in the case of finance brokers and credit providers.
