Prepare – Act – Survive

Do you 5 minute bushfire plan now!

Anglicare is supporting its Home Care Services clients who live in bushfire-prone areas to prepare for an emergency.

We’ve set up a database of clients who live in a community identified by the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) as being at particular risk.

They are being issued with a printed information package that includes a Bushfire Survival Plan and a Community Protection Plan showing the locations of evacuation routes, nearby safer places and emergency services relating to their particular area.

“We’ve always communicated with people affected by individual fire events, but this year we’re taking our client care to the next level and helping them to plan ahead,” Manager Client Support Services Kylie Marsh explains.

“This information stresses the importance of developing and writing down a plan and discussing it with family, friends and neighbours, and staying up-to-date with emergency advice.”

General Manager Home Care Services Connie Bruckard adds:

“We hope that this campaign will start important conversations: it’s a natural extension of our focus on home fire safety and it could save lives.”

Have you done your bushfire plan yet?

Anglicare encourages anyone, no matter what their circumstances to take a few minutes here and complete their plan.

High bushfire risk communities throughout the State are listed on the TFS’s Bushfire Protection Plan webpage. These areas include suburbs of major cities.
